Julia Avila vs. Karol Rosa rebooking in the works for June 13 UFC event

The fourth time might be the charm after all for UFC women’s bantamweight contenders Julia Avila and Karol Rosa.

Multiple people with knowledge of the promotion’s plans have confirmed to MMA Fighting that the UFC is close to finalizing a fight between Avila and Rosa for a fight card on June 13. Currently, the event does not have a location, but the promotion hopes the UFC APEX in Las Vegas will host should COVID-19 restrictions be lifted.

Avila made her UFC debut in July at UFC 239 and picked up a unanimous decision win over Pannie Kianzad. “The Raging Panda” signed with the promotion following a second-round TKO win over Alexa Connors at Invicta FC 32 in November 2018. The 31-year-old has not needed judges’ scorecards in more than half of her professional victories.

Rosa was scheduled to face Avila at the UFC’s return to Singapore in October 2019, but was forced to withdraw with an injury. The Brazilian native currently enjoys a three-fight winning streak, which includes a split decision over Lara Procopio in her octagon debut this past August.

The matchup was rebooked for UFC Portland April 11, and then again for May 2 before the the events were postponed due to coronavirus concerns.

As of now, there is no official main event for June 13. Originally, a pivotal bantamweight bout between Marlon Moraes and Petr Yan was scheduled to headline in Kazakhstan before the location was no longer an option due to the ongoing global pandemic.
