Jones took to Twitter to provide a running commentary on the UFC Jacksonville main event, addressing both of his past opponents as the bout went on. Teixeira, who lost a five-round unanimous decision to Jones at UFC 172 six years ago, battled back from a slow start to defeat Smith by fifth-round TKO after dominating the majority of the bout.
Earlier, Jones warned that Smith should be wary of demanding a rematch.
Smith challenged Jones for the UFC light heavyweight title at UFC 235 in March of last year, but fell to “Bones” by unanimous decision. Jones didn’t think highly of Smith’s interviews during this past fight week, dismissing his chances of faring better in a hypothetical second meeting.
Anthony Smith talking about outlasting me to become a world champion, Negro please— Jon Bones Jones (@JonnyBones) May 14, 2020
Jones was highly complimentary of the 40-year-old Teixeira’s performance, though he deleted a tweet making glib reference to a recent home invasion that Smith foiled.

Was starting to wonder if Anthony was going to last until the championship rounds. Glad he answered the bell— Jon Bones Jones (@JonnyBones) May 14, 2020
It seems like almost everyone who trash talk me during their fight week ends up losing. These boys thinking about being the champ instead of focusing on what it takes to get there. https://t.co/8LlrPgyHhf— Jon Bones Jones (@JonnyBones) May 14, 2020
Jones also had a few playful responses for fans taking note of his latest Twitter salvo.
Lol you just shut me up for the night https://t.co/uqCn5pwjoS— Jon Bones Jones (@JonnyBones) May 14, 2020
Haha it’s just rough entertainment at the end of the day. We are all always talking crap to each other and teasing each other. Pretty sure most these guys have tough skin, I know my skins become like an armadillo since joining the Ufc. https://t.co/Nq0usTG7VY— Jon Bones Jones (@JonnyBones) May 14, 2020
Yeah rule number one just be able to back it up when you see the person in person https://t.co/h6usNIWzMH— Jon Bones Jones (@JonnyBones) May 14, 2020
UFC heavyweight contender Francis Ngannou mentioned Jones on social media after Jones also commented on Ovince Saint Preux’s heavyweight debut, with Ngannou seeming to ask how likely it is that Jones would follow suit and jump up a division.
Taking that as a challenge, Jones fired off a few retorts to Ngannou and people questioning whether he would be confident in a matchup against “The Predator.”
Seemed so real Francis, all that power means nothing when your hay makers are too slow. I’m not most my friend https://t.co/co6uSqzRSm— Jon Bones Jones (@JonnyBones) May 14, 2020
No the truth is you would never agree to fight him. I feel like my talents are blessed by God, I have no reason to doubt my chin or abilities. https://t.co/T6sG9nsj29— Jon Bones Jones (@JonnyBones) May 14, 2020
