Dana White confirms May 23 UFC card moving to May 30, hopes for Las Vegas

After three shows inside one week, the UFC will take an unexpected break before the next event takes place. A planned card originally scheduled for May 23 will now shift to May 30, according to UFC president Dana White, who spoke to the media Wednesday after UFC Jacksonville.

The location for the May 30 event is still to be announced.

Initially, the UFC hoped to stage the May 23 card in Las Vegas, but the Nevada government has not yet approved the return of combat sports in the state due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

White has stated numerous times that he wants to move all cards to the $100 million UFC APEX, which is the same location where the Contender Series events are held.

Unfortunately for White, as of now, the Nevada State Athletic Commission still hasn’t lifted the ban on events, so the UFC remains in a holding pattern in hopes that will change in the coming days.

While the card for May 30 isn’t yet official, it’s expected that a welterweight showdown between former champion Tyron Woodley and Gilbert Burns will headline the event.
