Fans may not know where UFC 249 is going to be, but they at least know who will be there.
A day after a new main event was announced for the April 18 show, the UFC released its official poster for the card headlined by an interim lightweight championship bout between Tony Ferguson and Justin Gaethje.
Gaethje is stepping in on short notice for lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. Last week, Nurmagomedov returned to his native Russia and was officially removed from his scheduled meeting with Ferguson due to travel restrictions related to the coronavirus pandemic.
Not featured on the poster are co-headliners Jessica Andrade and Rose Namajunas. The two strawweight contenders are meeting for a second time after Andrade defeated Namajunas at UFC 237 last May to capture a UFC title, which she subsequently dropped to current champion Zhang Weili.
A location has not been officially announced for the April 18 show, which was originally scheduled for Barclays Center in Brooklyn, but UFC President Dana White said it will take place on a private island.
