Multiple sources confirmed the bout to MMA Fighting on Wednesday following an initial report from MMA Junkie. Verbal agreements are in place, although the UFC hasn’t officially announced the fight yet.
This will be the third opponent for Hernandez after he was originally scheduled to meet Islam Makhachev at UFC 249 in April. That fight was scrapped because Makhachev couldn’t get into the United States due to current travel restrictions as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
Hernandez then shifted gears to a fight against Omar Morales, but then the show on April 18 was postponed. Now Hernandez is expected to face Dober on May 13 as part of the card headlined by light heavyweights Anthony Smith and Glover Teixeira.
Dober also faces a new opponent after he was originally slated to return on May 2 against Carlos Diego Ferreira. That entire card was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, and now Dober shifts to May 13.
