A heavyweight fight between Ben Rothwell and Ovince Saint Preux is currently in the works for the upcoming UFC card in Jacksonville, Fla. on May 13.
Sources confirmed the expected matchup to MMA Fighting on Friday following an initial report from ESPN.
Rothwell was originally attached to the UFC 249 card on April 18 with a fight scheduled against Gian Villante. Now it appears Rothwell will face Saint Preux instead as the veteran heavyweight seeks to build on his last win where he knocked out Stefan Struve this past December.
Meanwhile, Saint Preux is expected to jump up to heavyweight to fight on the May 13 card after spending his entire career competing at 205 pounds.
Saint Preux was initially scheduled to fight on the now cancelled UFC card in Lincoln, Neb. on April 25 against Ion Cutelaba. Unfortunately, Cutelaba will not able to gain entry into the United States, which forced Saint Preux to get a new opponent.
Now he’s expected to clash with Rothwell at heavyweight on May 13.
More fights including a main event for the show are expected to be announced in the coming days.
