A rumored fight between lightweight standouts Patricky “Pitbull” Freire and Peter Queally is now official for Bellator’s Dublin return.
The promotion on Monday announced the matchup to headline the Oct. 3 fight card at 3Arena, which hosted the promotion this past month.
This past month, Queally teased the matchup as he anticipated “cartoon level violence that’s inevitable,” while Freire said he would fight “a guy who deserves a big beating.”
Freire and his brother, two-division champ Patricio “Pitbull” Freire, have called for a showdown with fighters from Queally’s longtime gym, the famed SBG Ireland, and champ “Pitbull” promised to “straight blast you harder than a dolly through a bus glass window.”
Queally is five months removed from his first win under the Bellator banner, stopping Ryan Scope this past September at a previous Bellator Dublin event. He was linked to a fight with ex-champ Brent Primus before an injury scrapped the opportunity.
Freire made it to the finals of the Rizin lightweight grand prix before a decision loss against Tofiq Musayev, which snapped a seven-fight win streak that followed a knockout loss to then-champ Michael Chandler for the title.
