A strawweight clash between Emily Whitmire and Poliana Viana has been scrapped from tonight’s UFC 248, sources confirmed to MMA Fighting after Viana announced the news on social media.

Whitmire (4-3) missed weight by 1.5 pounds for the event on Friday, and was fined 20 percent of her purse.
Viana (10-4) was looking to put an end to her losing skid in Las Vegas after dropping decisions to JJ Aldrich and Hannah Cifers and tapping to an armbar against Veronica Macedo.
UFC 248 will go on with 11 bouts. In the main event, middleweight champion Israel Adesanya puts his title on the line against Yoel Romero, while Zhang Weili defends the strawweight crown versus former champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk.
