Former UFC title contender Liz Carmouche will compete in the main event at Bellator 243 on May 29 against undefeated flyweight prospect Mandy Bohm.
Bellator officials announced the pairing on Friday.
Carmouche will be making her debut for the Viacom owned promotion after she was released from her UFC contract following a unanimous decision loss to reigning flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko.
Despite the loss, Carmouche being released came as a shot to just about everyone after spending the past seven years as part of the UFC roster.
She also holds wins former UFC champion Jessica Andrade as well as victories against Katlyn Chookagian, Lauren Murphy and Jennifer Maia. Now the UFC’s loss will be Bellator’s gain as Carmouche joins their 125-pound division in hopes of securing a title shot in the near future.
Bohm will attempt to stop her from attaining that goal as the SBG Ireland fighter looks to make an impact in her Bellator debut after amassing a 6-0 record with one no contest on the regional MMA scene.
Bellator 243 will take place on May 29 from the Pechanga Resort Casino in Temecula, Calif. with more fights being added to the card in the coming weeks.
