The two championship fights at UFC 248 are now official.
At the early morning weigh-ins on Friday, middleweight champion Israel Adesanya and Yoel Romero both hit the mark for their fight as well as Zhang Weili and ex-champ Joanna Jedrzejczyk, who face off for the strawweight title.
There was a bit of tension in the air as Romero as the last fighter remaining to step on the scale, but he still made weight well ahead of the 11 a.m. local time deadline. Romero stood behind a towel but came in at exactly 185 pounds as he seeks to win the middleweight title in his third attempt after two previous championship fights against Robert Whittaker.
Adesanya was actually the first fighter to hit the scale on Friday and he even predicted his weight at 184.5 pounds.
In the co-main event, Zhang came in at 115 pounds for her first strawweight title defense after defeating Jessica Andrade last August to win the belt.
As for Jedrzejczyk, she looked healthier than ever at 115 pounds as she attempts to win back the title she previously defended five times. In the past, Jedrzejczyk has faced struggles getting down to the strawweight limit but on Friday she appeared in very good spirits with a smile on her face as she stepped onto the scale.
Strawweight competitor Emily Whitmire was the only fighter on the card to miss weight after she came in at 117.5 pounds. Whitmire was visibly shaking as she stepped off the scale but the commission still granted her an additional hour to try and make the weight.
Her opponent Polyana Viana came in at 116 pounds.
UPDATE: Whitmire will forfeit 20 percent of her purse to Viana and her bout with Viana will proceed as scheduled (per UFC.com).
