It’s been a long road back to action for Paige VanZant, but she’s finally ready to fight.
The veteran strawweight and flyweight contender posted a video to her Instagram on Monday showing a cast being removed from her arm, which signaled that she’s healthy enough to begin training again.
“CAST IS OFF 100%!!!! LET’S FREAKING GO!!!!” VanZant wrote. “Training is in full effect (in my garage with my husband) lol First thing first, let’s heal the world, after that I’m coming to fight.”
VanZant has been plagued by a broken arm that she first suffered in a fight against Jessica-Rose Clark back in January 2018 and the recurring injury has largely kept her sidelined for the better part of the past two years.
She did manage to get a win over Rachael Ostovich in January 2019 but since that time VanZant was forced out of two previously offered fights due to continued problems with her arm.
Most recently, VanZant dropped out of a scheduled matchup against Amanda Ribas at UFC Brasilia after fracturing her right arm again, which required her to get back into the cast.
Now that the cast has been removed, VanZant is anxiously awaiting the chance to compete once the UFC schedule begins moving again as the promotion deals with a lot of uncertainty right now due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
VanZant, who is married to Bellator prospect Austin Vanderford, is currently on the final fight of her UFC contract and she previously stated that she planned on testing free agency once her deal was completed.
