Several notable names are joining the roster for the PFL’s upcoming 2020 season.
The league announced Tuesday that the following fighters will compete later this year for a shot at a season championship and a $1,000,000 prize: Clay Collard (18-8, 1 NC), Cindy Dandois (16-5), Marcin Held (26-7), Bubba Jenkins (14-4), Laura Sanchez (1-0), Mohammed Usman (6-1), and Jordan Young (11-1).
Previously reported signings Olivier Aubin-Mercier (11-5). Johnny Case (27-7-1), and Justin Willis (8-2) were also made official.
Collard, a former UFC fighter, has been competing in boxing (6-2-3, 2 KOs) and actually fought on the undercard of the Canelo Alvarez vs. Sergey Kovalev card last November. He also competed twice in MMA in 2019, winning both fights.
Dandois has won four straight fights dating back to last March. In November, she was reportedly attacked outside of her home in Antwerp, Belgium, but went on to compete a little over two weeks later at a show in Athens, Greece, where she defeated Eleni Mytilinaki by second-round submission. She previously competed for the UFC, Bellator, Invicta, and RIZIN.
Since parting ways with the UFC in 2017, Held extended a win streak to four with three consecutive wins in Russia’s ACA promotion. Most recently he defeated Diego Brandao by unanimous decision last June. He is a one-time Bellator lightweight title challenger.
Jenkins, a former college standout, enters the 2020 PFL season as the Brave CF featherweight champion having defeated Elias Boudegzdame for the title in September 2018 and successfully defended it once. The former Bellator standout has won three straight fights and six of his last eight.
Young looks to rebound from his first pro loss after winning the first 11 bouts of his career including six inside the Bellator cage. The 25-year-old currently trains with American Top Team.
As for the names without big show experience, Laura Sanchez, a former Western Carolina Catamount basketball reserve, is coming off of a successful pro debut in January, and Mohammed Usman, the younger brother of UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman, is currently on a three-fight win streak.
The full roster for the 2020 PFL season is still to be announced.
