Alex Morono got a huge pop when announced as a Houston resident at UFC 247. But it wasn’t long before the crowd at Toyota Center was silenced.
In fact, it was 27 seconds, the time it took UFC newcomer Khaos Williams to railroad the Octagon veteran. A left hook sent Morono tumbling backward, and an uppercut finished the job on the Saturday prelims.

Williams arrived in the Octagon on a seven-fight win streak that included three first-round finishes. Against Morono, he was expected to get a stern test in his first time out. Betting lines strongly favored the veteran, who was a 4-1 favorite in most books.
But then Williams lived up to his first name and took a big step up the UFC welterweight ladder.
Morono, meanwhile, sees a three-fight streak snapped.
