The 20-year-old flyweight prospect nearly earned the finish with the same kick in the opening round as she launched the head kick and caught Leonardo, who was likely defending a takedown attempt from the noted grappler.
She didn’t get the finish with that strike but Blanchfield obviously saw the opening to set up the same strike in round two.
With Leonardo defending punches, Blanchfield came back up over the top with the left head kick and this time she landed with maximum impact. Leonardo went crashing to the canvas as the referee quickly rushed into to stop the fight before further damage could be inflicted.
Blanchfield moves to 5-1 in her career while earning her first knockout with the win over Leonardo.
