James Krause is stepping in at the very last second to keep a UFC 247 bout alive.
MMA Fighting confirmed with sources that Krause has agreed to serve as a late-notice opponent to face Trevin Giles (11-2) on Saturday’s UFC 247 preliminaries, following the withdrawal of Giles’s originally scheduled opponent Antonio Arroyo.
Arroyo’s withdrawal was first reported by The Scrap, while MMA Junkie was first to report Krause’s involvement.
Giles and Arroyo successfully made weight at the official weigh-ins on Friday morning.
Krause (27-7), who has competed at welterweight and lightweight for the UFC, is currently on a six-fight winning streak. Giles, a native of Texas who currently resides in Houston, has lost two straight after beginning his career 11-0.
UFC 247 takes place at Toyota Center in Houston on Saturday, with the main card airing on pay-per-view through the ESPN+ streaming service.
