Usually, a pass to side control takes the top man out of danger when a guillotine choke gets applied.
But when applied by Jordan Brown, there is apparently no safe harbor. TJ Brown found that out the hard way at UFC Norfolk when he went to sleep after attempting to evade the choke. When the referee pulled him off at the 3:38 mark of the second round, he was unconscious and gasping for air.

Brown picked up his first UFC win after a pair of setbacks in his first two tries. Brown’s UFC debut goes south after a successful turn on the Contender Series.
