Earlier this week, and following his win over Paul Felder at UFC Auckland, Hooker made it clear that for his next fight he was only interested in two men: Justin Gaethje or Dustin Poirier. Well it seems like Dan Hooker may be getting just what he wished for.
On Thursday, Hooker took to Twitter and lightly called out Poirier with a post saying “Can you see me now” and an image of a diamond.

It didn’t take long for “The Diamond” to respond. A little over an hour later, Poirier quote-Tweeted Hooker’s post with two responses. The first was a GIF stating “Barely” but the second one was much more interesting, with Poirier seemingly teasing an interest in fighting Hooker in a main event.

Poirier is a former interim lightweight champion currently the second-ranked fighter in the division but has not fought since getting submitted by champion Khabib Nurmagomedov in their title unification bout at UFC 242. In October, Poirier underwent hip surgery to repair a torn labrum but has recently made overtures about potentially fighting at UFC 249, which is headlined by the highly anticipated lightweight title bout between Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson. Poirier has been trying to land fight with Nate Diaz or a rematch with Conor McGregor but has yet to gain much traction on either point. Now it seems Poirier may be interested in a fight with the surging Hooker, and “The Hangman” is happy to do it on Poirier’s terms.
Just let me know when and where. https://t.co/bf4Wr93FeP

Hooker first called for a bout with Poirier following his win over Al Iaquinta at UFC 243 last year but Poirier was uninterested. Now it appears he has The Diamond’s attention.

Too reasonable for MMA.
Just to be clear!

It's not true that nobody wants to fight Ryan Hall! I'm here, I said his name, but he is not interested in a fight against me, a tough fight with a lot lose and not much to gain. pic.twitter.com/PIVdMq979b
In the same way that he doesn't think I'm a high caliber fight, the guys that he is calling out don't think he is a high caliber fight. He is not getting the fight that he wants, but he can't say that nobody wants to fight him!
