Before Brooklyn, fans will get their chance to see UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson in a less hostile environment.

Officials announced that a press conference for the fighters’ upcoming main event clash at UFC 249 will be held on March 6 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas ahead of the ceremonial weigh-ins for UFC 248.

The press conference is open to the public and media, with a start time scheduled for 3 p.m. local time (6 p.m. ET).

Nurmagomedov (28-0) seeks his third straight title defense after picking up championship wins over Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor. He and Ferguson have been matched up in some capacity several times over the years, only for the bout to fall through due to maladies on both sides. UFC 249 marks Nurmagomedov’s first fight in Brooklyn since he won a vacant championship by defeating Al Iaquinta.

For Ferguson, this will be his second UFC championship fight. He won an interim lightweight title by submitting Kevin Lee at UFC 216. “El Cucuy” has won 12 straight fights dating back to October 2013.

UFC 249 takes place at Barclays Center in Brooklyn on April 18, with the main card available on ESPN+ pay-per-view. The co-main event features two former strawweight champions facing off, Jessica Andrade and Rose Namajunas.
