Invicta FC 43 results: Kayla Harrison batters Courtney King for TKO finish in featherweight debut

In the main event of Invicta FC 43, PFL lightweight champion Kayla Harrison made her 145-pound, and promotional debut against Courtney King. The event took place at the Police Athletic League in Kansas City, Kan. and streamed on UFC Fight Pass.

Harrison began things with kicks to the leg and body of King before shooting for a takedown. King defended as Harrison forced her up against the fence and was able to force separation. That didn’t last long as Harrison landed a leg trip to get the fight to the mat and landed a nasty elbow that immediately busted open her opponent. The two-time Olympic gold medalist continued to score with vicious grand and pound. After transitioning to full mount, Harrison continued to pour it on her battered opponent who showed no signs of quitting before looking for an armbar attempt was thwarted by King’s defense, and the horn ending the round.

After looking at the nasty cut on top of King’s nose, the doctor cleared her to continue and Harrison pushed her against the fence, which ultimately turned into a successful takedown immediately at the start of the second. King did a nice job avoiding any more damage halfway through the round which led to the referee standing them up and King lands a left hand before getting taken down once again by Harrison.

Harrison began to land heavy strikes on the mat and reopened the cut on King’s face. Harrison was able to get in a crucifix position and unloaded unanswered punches before the referee had seen enough.

With the win, Harrison improved to 8-0 in her pro career and plans to stick around at 145 for one more fight with Invicta before kicking off her 2021 PFL season at lightweight.

Geltmacher delivers ferocious KO in co-main event

A flyweight matchup between Stephanie Geltmacher and Caitlin Sammons served as the co-main event, and Geltmacher delivered a belly-to-back slam, hoisting Sammons in the air just seconds after the opening bell rang. The Oklahoma native used her strength to keep Sammons up against the fence for nearly half the round, landing knees to the body in the process. Sammons would reverse position and landed McGregor-esque shoulder strikes against the cage wall.

After a brief halt to the action, Geltmacher landed a ferocious right hand that dropped Sammons and the referee jumped in moments later to stop it.

Hope Chase and Juliana Miller picked up stoppage wins on the night, while Meaghan Penning picked up a unanimous decision win in her professional debut.
