A lightweight matchup of octagon veterans is headed to UFC Brasilia.
According to the promotion’s Brazilian Instagram account, Francisco Trinaldo (24-7) is set to fight John Makdessi (17-6) at the March 14 event, which takes place at Nilson Nelson Gymnasium in Brasilia, Brazil.
Trinaldo, who’s fought in Brazil in all but five of his UFC fights, returns to the octagon after a unanimous decision over Bobby Green at UFC Sao Paulo. The win put him back in the win column after a decision setback against Alexander Hernandez.
Momentum-wise, the 41-year-old Trinaldo needs a push after alternating wins and losses in his previous seven outings.
Makdessi, 34, is chasing his fourth straight win after decisions over Abel Trujillo, Ross Pearson, and most recently, Jesus Pinedo. The performances got him back on track after a 2-4 run endangered his octagon career.
