After bowing out of the Featherweight World Grand Prix, Juan Archuleta and Henry Corrales will fight to stay in the contenders’ circle.
MMA Fighting confirmed with officials that Archuleta (23-2) and Corrales (17-4) will meet in a 145-pound bout at Bellator 238 on Jan. 25 at The Forum in Inglewood, Calif. The matchup was first reported by ESPN.
This will be Archuleta’s first fight since losing a five-round unanimous decision to champion Patricio Freire in the opening round of the Bellator Featherweight World Grand Prix. Before crossing paths with “Pitbull,” Archuleta had won 18 straight fights.
Corrales entered the tournament on a five-fight win streak, which included a 67-second knockout of top prospect Aaron Pico. His record inside the Bellator cage fell to 5-4 when he lost a unanimous decision to Darrion Caldwell in his last outing.
Bellator 238 will be headlined by a featherweight championship bout between Julia Budd and the debuting Cris Cyborg. The main card will air exclusively on the DAZN streaming service.
