The Weekly Grind: Felice Herrig got punched over a penny in Las Vegas

What makes professional fighters so relatable? At first glance, probably nothing. But take away the gloves, gis, and bulging hematomas, and they’re actually not so different than the rest of us.

These posts prove even the toughest fighters are only human after all. Here is the latest edition of “The Weekly Grind.”

I recently did a Lithuanian article because I was nominated for an award and I just so happened to be in Lithuania. I did not go into detail about the main reason why I made the recent trip (other than to see family of course) My heritage runs so deep! Need to get grounded? Return to the roots! It is an honor to be apart of such rich history! My great uncle Arimantas Dumcius wrote a book on our family tree and the history as it relates to Lithuania’s fight for freedom. It starts with our lineage to an ancient royal bloodline, descending to my great grandfather Knygnesys Petras Dumcius who helped keep the Lithuanian language alive being a “knygnesys” or a book smuggler, then Arimantas Dumcius himself who survived the Siberian deportations and went on to become one of the pioneers of cardiology in Lithuania. There is much more but those are just some of the main points! There was also appearances from Vytautas Landsbergis (leader of the independence “Sajudis” movement) and Sigitas Tamkevičius (cardinal who also survived the deportations to Siberia because of religious persecution) who gave very poetic speeches and left everyone inspired. Some times it’s hard to take it all in but I am so blessed to have been able to make it happen and I actually got some quality time with the family on top of all of it! I feel this is just the beginning of something very special stay tuned! KULTŪRA, MENAS 01.09. Apie prof. A. Dumčiaus knygą "Dumčiai: kilmė, giminystės ryšiai, veikla“ dr.
