Aleksei Oleinik and Maurice Greene face off ahead of their heavyweight bout at UFC 246 on Saturday in Las Vegas.

This is the UFC 246 live blog for Aleksei Oleinik vs. Maurice Greene, a heavyweight main card bout on Saturday’s fight card at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Oleinik looks to bounce back from a pair of knockout losses in bouts against Alistair Overeem and Walt Harris. Greene hopes to rebound, as well, following a TKO loss to Sergei Pavlovich that snapped a 3-0 start to his UFC career.

Round 1: Keith Peterson overseeing this fight. Oleinik misses with a wild punch and gets tripped up by a Greene kick. Oleinik gets a hold of Greene and drags him down, Greene doing his best to fight off back control. Oleinik on top now, in side control, hunting for some kind of submission, as always. Greene has his feet against the fence and he kicks off to break Oleinik’s grip, triangle choke attempt out of nowhere but Oleinik has it scouted. He settles into Greene’s guard. Greene throws the triangle up again, but can’t get it. It’s enough to return the fight to the feet, though Oleinik immediately wraps him up from behind and drags him down again. Greene looking to punch from bottom, Oleinik just taking it as he advances into mount. Elbow from the top by Oleinik. He transitions beautifully into a scarf choke. Greene doing what he can to create space. Oleinik holding on. Hammer fists by Greene. He’s going to make it to the end of the round.

Round 2: Greene connecting with punches early. Oleinik keeping his defense tight, just walking forward, throwing looping punches to get in close. Glancing head kick by Greene, then an uppercut. He clips Oleinik with a knee to the body. Oleinik answering with punches and he drops for a slow-mo takedown. Greene keeping his base wide. Lift by Oleinik and they’re back on the mats. Oleinik in half guard and again looking for a choke, methodical. Greene defending as Oleinik tries to readjust and reapply. Not much offense on his part though, until he attacks with a kimura from bottom. A brief stalemate, then Greene gives it up. Oleinik starting to throw punches from half guard. Belly down armbar attempt by Oleinik. Greene trying to use his legs to block it, but Oleinik is gradually straightening it out. Greene taps.
