Injuries knocked out opponents for both Arnold Allen and Nik Lentz so now the two featherweights will square off against each other instead at UFC Fight Night from Raleigh, N.C. on Jan. 25.
UFC officials confirmed the news after Allen lost his original opponent in Josh Emmett while Lentz’s fight against Nad Narimani was also scrapped recently due to injury.
Rather than rebooking the fighters for a later date, the UFC took advantage of the opening and pitted the two featherweights against each other instead.
Undefeated through his first six UFC fights, Allen is considered one of the brightest prospects at 145 pounds. He’ll look to build off his last win over former Strikeforce champion Gilbert Melendez when he competes in North Carolina.
As for Lentz, he’ll attempt to bounce back after suffering a knockout loss to Charles Oliveira last May.
Allen vs. Lentz joins the card headlined by heavyweights Curtis Blaydes and Junior dos Santos, who will headline the event airing on ESPN+ on Jan. 25.
