ONE Championship returned to Bangkok for the first time since Aug. 2019 with a fight card that combined muay thai, kickboxing and MMA bouts, and once again Stamp Fairtex was the star of the mixed martial arts portion of the show.
Fairtex, who captured the ONE kickboxing and muay thai atomweight titles over the past 13 months, keeps marching towards another belt, this time under MMA rules, after stopping Puja Tomar in one round.
With a record of 63-15-5 in muay thai, Fairtex started off by throwing a kick to the midsection, but Tomar caught it and took her down. Fairtex immediately got back up before taking her opponent’s back and going for the rear-naked choke. Tomar defended the submission attempt, but ended up with Fairtex on her back.
With the back mount secured, Fairtex landed a barrage of unanswered punches until referee Olivier Coste mercifully stopped the contest with 33 seconds left in the opening stanza. The Thailand native now holds a perfect 4-0 record in MMA with three stoppages.
In her post-fight interview, the 22-year-old atomweight prospect admitted she saw an opening for the choke, but opted to go for more ground and pound instead since she likes “beating up” her opponents.
“I want to keep fighting MMA and improve my skills,” Fairtex said through a translator. “Soon, I’ll come for the belt.”
The second-to-last MMA bout of the card highlighted Thanh Le’s striking skills, taking out Ryogo Takahashi in just three minutes. The former LFA interim featherweight champion kept his 100 percent finishing rate in MMA to snap Takahashi’s eight-fight winning streak and improve to 3-0 under the ONE banner.
After the bout, Le said he will continue beating every opponent he faces until he takes the featherweight crown.

Earlier on the card, Shinechagtga Zoltsetseg scored a vicious 55-second knockout that left his opponent Ma Jia Wen going for a kneebar on referee Olivier Costa (watch here).
In the welterweight division, Raimond Magomedaliev threw Joey Pierotti off balance with a calf kick and quickly locked a standing guillotine that forced the promotional newcomer to tap in less than four minutes.
ONE Championship: A New Tomorrow was headlined by Rodtang Jitmuangnon vs. Jonathan Haggerty for the muay thai flyweight championship. Jitmuangnon successfully defended his title by knocking Haggerty down three times in the third round.
