Video: Joao Paulo Rodrigues gets brutally knocked out twice in 13 days

Brazilian MMA veteran Joao Paulo Rodrigues suffered a pair of vicious knockouts this month.

Rodrigues (39-18-2), who has competed professionally for almost 15 years, lost via third-round knockout to Roman Ogulchanskiy (9-4-1) at United Donbass 2, which took place Friday in Donetsk, Ukraine. Ogulchanskiy put the Brazilian down with a spinning wheel kick.

Prior to the event in Ukraine, MMA Fighting reached out to Rodrigues questioning if he should go ahead with the fight just 13 days after getting brutally finished by Ludovit Klein, again with a head kick, at Oktagon 14 in Bratislava, Slovakia, on Sept. 14.

“No big deal,” Rodrigues told MMA Fighting via text message on Wednesday. “Training is tougher. I was ready for another (fight) the next day.”

Rodrigues was knocked out cold a second into the third round.

Rodrigues holds wins over big names from Brazil, including Renan Barao (read about it here), Gleristone Santos and Rony Jason, and has also shared cages and rings with the likes of Patricio Freire, Patricky Freire, Iuri Alcantara, Renato Moicano and Francisco Trinaldo.
