Marc-Andre Barriault is traveling a long way for what could be his last crack at staying in the UFC.
Officials announced Friday that Canada’s Barriault will compete in a middleweight bout at UFC Busan against South Korea’s own Jun Yong Park. The bout was first reported by RDS.ca.
A champion at 185 pounds and 205 pounds in the long-running TKO promotion, Barriault (11-3) failed to pick up a win in his first two UFC appearances, dropping decisions to Krzysztof Jotko and Andrew Sanchez. He won eight straight prior to making his Octagon debut.
Park (10-4) also fell short in his first UFC fight, losing by second-round submission to Anthony Hernandez in August. That snapped a seven-fight win streak for “The Iron Turtle.”
UFC Busan takes place at Sajik Arena in Busan, South Korea, on Dec. 21, with the main card airing live on the ESPN+ streaming service. Featherweight contenders Brian Ortega and Chan Sung Jung are scheduled to meet in the main event.
