Jorge Masvidal on Nate Diaz fight at UFC 244: ‘We’re making the biggest fight of the year’

Jorge Masvidal is never going to claim he’s the best trash talker or promoter but he knows people are going to want to watch him clash with Nate Diaz at UFC 244 in New York.

Ahead of their showdown to crown the first ‘baddest motherf—ker in the game’ along with a $50,000 custom ‘BMF’ title handed to the winner, Masvidal believes there’s something greater at work in his fight against Diaz than two guys just verbally sparring with each other ahead of a pay-per-view.

“We’re making the biggest fight of the year,” Masvidal said in the first installment of his “Diaries of a Street Fighter” series ahead of UFC 244. “The biggest fight in quite some time in the way that we’re moving the needle and it’s not because we’re the most charismatic people or I don’t know what. I think it’s just because we’re going to fight and people know that.

“It’s just going to be two guys testing each other’s souls to the max. We’ve both been in those trenches, those fights that are tough and we pull out the victory. But we know how to dig and people love to see that. Guys that push through the f—king pain, fatigue.”

While Masvidal doesn’t have a bad word to say about Diaz, that won’t stop him from doing to the Stockton, Calif. native the same that he did to Darren Till and Ben Askren earlier this year.

“I’m going to give it my best effort to do what I’ve always done and that’s go for the off button,” Masvidal said. “I just want to make sure I win this one in impressive fashion.”
