Jorge Masvidal on UFC not making Conor McGregor fight: ‘They don’t want a murder charge on them’

Jorge Masvidal is pretty certain the UFC won’t match him with Conor McGregor any time soon.

In a recent interview with ESPN, McGregor claimed that he would be interested in fighting Masvidal. But in a Thursday appearance on ESPN’s Get Up, “Gamebred” again underlined why he doesn’t think the fight will be booked.

“That fight...the president deemed it not good because they don’t want a murder charge on them,” said Masvidal. “They’re not going to allow that to happen.”

Dana White previously has said Masvidal is too big for the Irishman, which Masvidal said didn’t sit well with “The Notorious.” Yet that hasn’t brought them closer to a fight.

“The president himself already said it, so I don’t want to go to jail for killing nobody,” he said. “It’s not what I want to do. I’m here to compete and to keep beating people up.”

Masvidal doubled down when asked if he could “take care” of the Dubliner.

“The president said we couldn’t compete because I’m too much man, so that can’t happen,” he said. “We’re different spectrums. [Dana White] is not going to allow that to happen.”

For now, Masvidal has other things to worry about. He’s scheduled to meet Nate Diaz in the main event of UFC 244 in Madison Square Garden on Nov. 2.
