UFC Vancouver bonuses: Tristan Connelly pockets $100k

Outside of the main event scrap between Justin Gaethje and Donald Cerrone, all eyes were on Michel Pereira at UFC Vancouver.

As the UFC’s resident video game character, Pereira made a name for himself on the regional scene with his signature flashy style and trademark backflips inside the cage. He brought this flare to Octagon when he earned his bonus with a violent KO over Danny Roberts in May.

So what would he do for a following? Get outshined by his dance partner, Tristan Connelly.

Connelly, who took the fight on short notice after Sergey Khadozhko fell out of the card, not only withstood a wild flurry right out of the gate from Pereira but rallied to a hard-fought decision win. With the Canadian crowd erupting around their hometown underdog, Connelly took in the moment.

While an extra $50,000 in bonus seemed all but inevitable, due to Pereira missing weight by one pound, Connelly pocketed his bonus as well, meaning he left the arena $100,000 richer.

Rounding out the bonuses, Gaethje earned his seventh bonus in six UFC bouts for his first-round TKO over Cerrone, while Misha Cirkunov earned his first bonus following his unique Peruvian necktie submission over Jimmy Crute earlier on the card.
