Zabit Magomedsharipov out of co-main event fight against Calvin Kattar at UFC on ESPN 6

The upcoming UFC on ESPN 6 card from Boston just took a major hit as Zabit Magomedsharipov has been forced out of his co-main event fight against Calvin Kattar on Oct. 18.

Sources close to the situation confirmed Magomedsharipov’s exit from the fight when speaking to MMA Fighting on Friday. MMAJunkie initially reported the news. The UFC has not officially announced any changes to the card.

As of now there’s no word on what exactly forced Magomedsharipov out of the fight but it’s not expected that the Dagestan native will be out of action for an extended period of time.

Regarded as one of the top prospects in the featherweight division. Magomedsharipov is currently undefeated in his UFC campaign with a perfect 5-0 record including a win over Jeremy Stephens in his last appearance back in March.

Unfortunately, he will have to wait until a later date to fight again after he was booked against Kattar in his home state of Massachusetts.

Kattar has made a quick rise up the ranks in his own right with a 4-1 record in the UFC including back-to-back knockouts against Ricardo Lamas and Chris Fishgold.

With Magomedsharipov off the card, a new co-headliner will be selected with a light heavyweight showdown between Dominick Reyes and former middleweight champion Chris Weidman serving as the main event from Boston.
