Another key welterweight fight is heading to the Big Apple.

On Tuesday afternoon, UFC officials confirmed an initial report from ESPN of Stephen Thompson meeting the surging Vicente Luque at UFC 244 in New York City.

Thompson (14-4-1), a former two-time UFC title challenger, is looking to get back into the win column after being knocked out by Anthony Pettis in their main event scrap at UFC Nashville. This setback marked the South Carolina native’s second straight loss after coming up short to Darren Till at UFC Liverpool in May 2018.

Prior to this string of setbacks, “Wonderboy” earned a decision win over Jorge Masvidal at UFC 217 in November 2017.

Luque (17-6-1) is looking to push his win streak to seven straight inside the Octagon. In his most recent outing, “The Silent Assassin” battered Mike Perry to a decision win at UFC Uruguay. Prior to this, Luque walked away with stoppage wins over Bryan Barberena, Derrick Krantz, Jalin Turner, Chad Laprise and Niko Price.

UFC 244 is set to go down in New York City on Nov. 2 inside Madison Square Garden. WIth this latest addition, here is how the entire card stands:
