Holly Holm will be returning to the Octagon this fall.
“The Preacher’s Daughter”, who recently competed at UFC 239 and suffered a technical knockout loss to UFC champ-champ Amanda Nunes, will be taking on former UFC title challenger Raquel Pennington at UFC 243 on Oct. 5 in Melbourne, Australia. This bout will be a rematch that stems from UFC 184 where Holm won via split decision.
The news was first reported by ESPN and later confirmed by MMA Fighting.
The bout with Pennington marks the first time Holm returns to fight in Melbourne since shocking the world in 2015 with her famous head-kick knockout win over then bantamweight queen Ronda Rousey. The Albuquerque native is 2-5 in her last seven bouts since capturing the belt that night at UFC 193.
Meanwhile, Pennington is coming off a split-decision win over Mexico’s Irene Aldana at last month’s UFC on ESPN 4 in San Antonio, Texas. The win snapped a two-fight skid for Pennington. “Rocky” is 10-7 in her overall professional MMA career.
