Carlo Pedersoli Jr. signs with Bellator following UFC release

MMA: UFC Fight Night-Liverpool: Scott vs Pedersoli Per Haljestam-USA TODAY Sports

Carlo Pedersoli Jr. announced that he has signed on the dotted line with Bellator following his release from the UFC after contesting three fights in the infamous Octagon.

The Italian welterweight posted the news on Instagram on Monday morning. MMA Fighting later confirmed the announcement with Bellator. The post states that UFC released Pedersoli Jr. rather than letting him fight out the last bout on his contract. He also revealed that Bellator were one of two suitors that were vying for his signature after parting ways with UFC.

Pedersoli Jr. (11-3-0) was signed by the UFC last year after he played spoiler to Nicolas Dalby’s Cage Warriors return by claiming a split-decision win. He opened his UFC account with another split-decision win over Brad Scott weeks after edging Dalby, but has been stopped in the first round of his last two fights when he faced Alex Oliveira and Dwight Grant.

With Bellator frequently traveling to Italy to host events, the signing makes perfect sense to boost the brand with another national fan favorite in Pedersoli. It is still unknown when Pedersoli Jr. will make his debut.
