After losing another opponent, Movsar Evloev is off of Saturday’s UFC event in Shenzhen, China.
Short-notice replacement Lu Zhenhong has been removed from the lineup due to a cut suffered during fight week, resulting in the amount of bouts being reduced to 11. A welterweight fight between Kenan Song and Derrick Krantz has been promoted to the main card.
Officials announced the changes following an initial report by MMA DNA. An Instagram account associated with Evloev shared the news earlier along with what appears to be a picture of the cut in question.
Zhenhong was booked as a replacement for an injured Mike Grundy and successfully hit the 145-pound limit (with one-pound allowance) at the pre-event weigh-ins, despite stepping in on less than two weeks’ notice. Neither he nor Evloev were present at the ceremonial weigh-ins and no reason was initially given for their absence.
UFC Shenzhen takes place at Universiade Sports Centre, with the preliminaries starting at 3 a.m. ET and the main card at 6 a.m. ET, all on the ESPN+ streaming service. In the main event, Jessica Andrade defends the strawweight title against Weili Zhang.
