Back on the winning track, Ed Ruth’s next assignment sees him welcoming Jason Jackson back to Bellator.
Ruth (7-1) meets Jackson (10-3) in a welterweight bout at Bellator 231 on Oct. 25 at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn. MMA Fighting confirmed the matchup with officials following an initial report by MMA Junkie.
A highly touted prospect who was a three-time national wrestling champion at Penn State, Ruth bounced back from his first-ever loss by finishing veteran Kiichi Kunimoto with strikes in the second round of their contest at Bellator 224 this past July. The 28-year-old has spent his entire promotional career under the Bellator banner thus far.
Jackson (also 28), a Legacy Fighting Alliance standout perhaps best known for his time as a cast member on the 21st season of The Ultimate Fighter, is currently on a three-fight win streak. He knocked out Jordan Larson inside of a round at Bellator 204 last August and picked up two wins with LFA after that.
He also appeared on Dana White’s Contender Series last season, but his UFC audition was spoiled by an ankle injury.
Bellator 231 will be headlined by a heavyweight rematch between Frank Mir and Roy Nelson, with the event airing on Paramount Network and the DAZN streaming service.
