UFC 241: Cormier vs. Miocic 2 took place Aug. 17 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif. Former UFC champion Anthony Pettis (22-9) faced Nate Diaz (20-11) in a key welterweight contest on the main card, which aired live on ESPN+ pay-per-view. Catch more video highlights below.

Round 1: Mike Beltran is the third man in the cage tonight. Diaz starts off pressuring and Pettis is moving away. Good front kick from Diaz lands. Petts lands a check right hook as Diaz comes in. Counter right hand lands for Diaz again. Nate doesn’t look to be showing much rust. Diaz lands a few good shots as he closes in but Pettis clips him. Diaz is now clinching Pettis against the fence but can’t do much. Pettis pivots and lands a great right hook to the body. Pettis ready to counter, Diaz now letting Pettis come to him. High kick from Pettis lands lightly. Diaz returns to the pressure and forces a clinch again. Pettis eventually gets free and Diaz lands a sharp right hand that has him feeling himself. Pettis is trying to land big counters but that may not be a productive strategy against a guy as tough as Diaz. Diaz shoots in and Pettis lands a good knee. Diaz gets the takedown but Pettis has a guillotine. Nate gets out and is now trying to work from full guard. Diaz is posturing and getting some shots in. Pettis rolls and gives up his back. Now Nate is in full mount. Pettis shrimps but Diaz is clearly in control on the floor. He retakes the back. The round ends with Nate on Pettis’ back.

Round 2: Strong leg kick from Pettis is checked and Pettis falls over. Nice left counter from Pettis. Pettis is finding angles for his counters but his volume might cost him. Now Pettis is pressing forward. Nate is switching stances regularly, keeping PEttis’ leg kicks from being to effective. Pettis lands a big hook to the body and Diaz is in retreat right now. Unclear why, looks like maybe an eye issue? The referee stops the fight to have the doctor check but nothing happens and they restart the bout. After the break, Pettis lands a big right hand. Diaz is back on the pressure game. Right hook to the body from Pettis but Nate smothers him and he’s doing a good job of making Pettis work. Petis is getting tired and a lazy right hand causes Nate to get his back. A knee from Diaz makes pettis drop to his back and now Diaz is on top. Pettis scrambles but eats a knee for his trouble. Pettis could be in a world of hurt now as a big elbow from Diaz lands. Another big elbow from Diaz and now combinations. This is classic Diaz right now. He’s starting to maul Pettis against the fence. Pettis is still throwing hard counters but he’s not able to make a dent. Nice elbow from Pettis and Diaz is cut above the right eye now. Pettis is eating shots though and the bell might have save him.

Round 3: Hard to see a way in which Pettis doesn’t need a stoppage to win the fight. Diaz wastes no time to start the third though, geting in Pettis’ face. Pettis has been refreshed though and is throwing back with zip right now but Pettis’ ankle appears to be injured and his footing is no longer solid. They clinch and then it’s Pettis who puts Diaz against the fence. That doesn’t last long though and Diaz is back to space and pressuring. Beautiful 1-2 from Diaz and know knees! Pettis is in a world of trouble! Pettis is dropped and Diaz is hammering shots. The ref may step in. Pettis rolls to his back and now Diaz has two hooks in and has the back. This is a win for Pettis though who was dead to rights just moments go. Pettis reverses and is in full guard! 2:30 left and Pettis needs a miracle now. Diaz is trying to work a triangle but isn’t having much luck. Pettis stands and then reenters. Nate goes for an arm but Pettis rolls through. Now Diaz rolls and pull out the back door and Diaz is on top with Pettis in turtle. Diaz is reigning shots not like Khabib. He retakes Pettis’ back and traps an arm B.J. Penn style. Pettis gets oubut Diaz has slipped an arm under the chin. Pettis reverses again! killer ground battle! Diaz throws up a triangle but Pettis rolls through and the bell sounds.

Official result: Nate Diaz wins by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28).
