UFC 241 live blog: Gabriel Benitez vs. Sodiq Yusuff

This is the UFC 241 live blog for Gabriel Benitez vs. Sodiq Yusuff, a featherweight bout at Saturday’s UFC event at Honda Center in Anaheim, California.

Benitez, who has won three of his last four, faces Yusuff, who is 2-0 in the UFC so far, on the main card.

Round 1: Herb Dean is the third man in the cage for this one. Yusuff comes out and pressures early and he is throwing HEAT to start. Benitez is trying to stave off the storm with inside leg kicks but Yusuff has already cut Benitez over the left eye. Benitez is troubled by the eye but he’s landing some good kicks and Yusuff’s attack has been stunted some. Now Yusuff is landing his own inside leg kicks. The men trade head kicks. The cut on Benitez’s eye appears to be on the eyelid and that may be a big problem if this makes it out of the round. Benitez clips Yusuff with a clean left hand that rocks him! Yusuff is able to fight it off but Benitez is the aggressor now and Yusuff also has a cut on his right eye. Benitez comes in with a lazy right hand and Yusuff counters with a monster right hand that drops Mowgli! He’s in all kinds of trouble as Yusuff stands overtop hammering follow up shots but this one is over! Herb Dean stops the bout and Sodiq Yusuff gets the TKO.
