Angela Hill didn’t have to wait long to find a new opponent after Istela Nunes was pulled from their upcoming bout due to a failed drug test.
Hill (9-7) is now expected to face Ariane Carnelossi (12-1) at UFC Mexico City on Sept. 21. Multiple sources close to the situation confirmed the news to MMA Fighting following an initial report from Indiscutido.com.
Carnelossi was originally scheduled to make her UFC debut at the recent card in Uruguay, but her opponent Taila Santos was forced out of the fight at the last minute.
Without time to secure a replacement, Carnelossi was pulled from the event but now she will get the opportunity to compete in Mexico instead.
Meanwhile, Hill will look to bounce back following a loss to Xiaonan Yan in her last outing, which moved the former Invicta FC champion’s record to 1-3 over her past four fights in the UFC.
UFC Mexico City will be headlined by a featherweight showdown between Yair Rodriguez and Jeremy Stephens, with the main card airing on the ESPN+ streaming service.
