On Saturday night at UFC Uruguay, Mike Perry may not have been in the main event, but he ended up stealing the show nonetheless. Perry and Vicente Luque put on a three-round war that was declared Fight of the Night and earned both men an extra $50,000 for their trouble. That money will come in handy for Perry who suffered a gruesome nose break in the third round of the bout that required emergency surgery and will sideline him for at least the next six months. but though things didn’t work out for him in either the outcome or his physical well being, Perry seems to be taking it all in stride.

Posting on social media after his fight, Perry posted a message declaring that his dream is to be remembered, along with an image of his nose after the fight, as well as a picture of himself in the hospital post-surgery.

Perry being Perry, he also posted a picture of himself shooting the Uruguayan fans the bird when they started booing during one of the few slow-paced moments of the fight.

Finally, Perry released a more full statement on his bout with Luque, saying he’s cursed with being too tough, giving Luque props for the win, and offering to train together when his injuries heal.

“FOTN ! It takes 2 ! Thanks for the bonus, you didn’t have to do my face like that tho sheesh. Cursed with this chin, should’ve had my guard up like you. KO or not one significant strike can do the job. When I’m healed we’ll train so you can beat these wrestlers. Congrats Vicente Luque!”

Luque was quick to respond to Perry’s post, calling “Platinum” the toughest man he’s ever fought.

“Look forward to train with you! I’m sure we can learn a lot from each other. No doubt you’re the toughest man I’ve fought and we showed everyone out there what fighting is about. Respect ”

Hey, look at that. There is still some respect in the welterweight division.

Luque’s own post on the fight.

Bullet not too concerned with the critics.

Tremendous call out.

Less tremendous callout. Especially because Shevchenko would work him.

Also, Henry Cejudo shamelessly calling out Frankie Edgar.

Just make this fight already because Henry is injured and even when he comes back he’s trying to fight a bunch of weird fights.
