UFC Uruguay: Shevchenko vs. Carmouche 2 took place Aug. 10 at the Antel Arena in Montevideo, Uruguay. Valentina Shevchenko (18-3) squared off against Liz Carmouche (13-7) on the main card, which aired live on ESPN+. Catch more video highlights below.

Round 1: Keith Peterson on-hand to oversee this main event. Shevchenko starts off walking Carmouche down, both fighters feinting. Leg kick by Shevchenko. Spinning kick by Shevchenko catches nothing but air. Stiff inside leg kick lands for Carmouche. Shevchenko finishes a 1-2 combo with an inside leg kick. Halfway through the round, neither woman has landed anything substantial. Straight left by Shevchenko. Carmouche answers with a body kick. Spinning kick to the body by Shevchenko. She scores with an inside leg kick. Carmouche with the kick to the body. Shevchenko throws a 1-2. Lots of in-and-out movement by Carmouche, but little in the way of effective striking. Not much to score there.

Round 2: Nice inside leg kick by Carmouche. Shevchenko backs her up with a short right, then a 1-2 that connects. Crowd gets restless as Carmouche circles and Shevchenko looks to counter. Shevchenko probing with the jab. Carmouche has a takedown stuffed, but she scores with a glancing right on the separation. Measured performance by both fighters. Superman punch by Shevchenko. She scores with an outside leg kick. Carmouche throwing almost nothing. 1-2-leg kick combo by Shevchenko. Carmouche hits her with a kick to the body. Shevchenko scores again with the 1-2-leg kick combination. Front kick to the body by Shevchenko. Spinning back fist by Shevchenko, she follows up with punches. Low wattage encounter so far.

Round 3: Shevchenko controlling the distance with kicks. She’s still content to wait on Carmouche. Carmouche’s only offense has been the occasional inside leg kick. High kick is blocked by Shevchenko. Shevchenko with the step-in jab. Carmouche lands a good leg kick. More boos from the crowd. Feints and more feints from Carmouche. She gets out of the way of Shevchenko’s punches. Shevchenko makes Carmouche pay for a leg kick with a 1-2 that puts Carmouche on her back. Looked more like a slip than a knockdown. Shevchenko chooses not to pursue and the referee eventually calls for a reset. Clinch in the center of the cage, Shevchenko gets the underhooks and spins for a strong takedown. Carmouche trying to score with kicks to Shevchenko’s thigh. Neither fighter able to do much as they’re crammed up against the cage.

Round 4: Carmouche still moving well, but she needs to start landing something. All her strikes are falling short. Shevchenko gets inside with a Superman punch, then follows with punches and a leg kick. Unsurprisingly, she’s had the clear striking advantage. Carmouche shoots in for a takedown with no set-up and it’s easily evaded. Before she can regain her balance, Shevchenko shoots in herself and she’s in Carmouche’s guard. Carmouche looking to set up rubber guard. Shevchenko into half guard. She tries to pass, but Carmouche gets her back into full guard. Peterson stands them up. Carmouche throwing high kicks, but Shevchenko just backs out of range. Spinning backfist catches the challenger as she comes in and she immediately drops for a takedown, stuffed. Shevchenko works her way into side control with less than 30 seconds to work. Carmouche reclaims half guard as the round ends.

Round 5: Carmouche marching forward with a little more aggression than before. Her kicks aren’t landing though. Shevchenko with a hard outside leg kick. Superman punch lands again for Shevchenko. Kick to the body lands and Carmouche catches it, her takedown attempt is stuffed though. Shevchenko on top again and Carmouche rolls to get Shevchenko in her guard. Crowd boos as neither fighter can initiate much offense from this position. Shevchenko keeping her head right against Carmouche’s body to prevent any attacks from the bottom. Shevchenko passes into half guard. Carmouche trying to throw punches to the body. Shevchenko just sticking on top and riding this one out. Shevchenko lands a punch to the face. Hammer fists by Shevchenko to close.
