A welterweight bout at UFC Uruguay between Vicente Luque and Mike Perry was billed as a potential barnburner and they didn’t fail to deliver.
After three rounds of non-stop action that closed out with Luque literally using a guillotine choke to squeeze blood out of Perry’s face, Luque won a split decision, but both men will be leaving Montevideo with an extra $50,000 for winning the evening’s Fight of the Night award.
It was the second Fight of the Night award for both fighters this year, with Luque winning one in February for a fight with Bryan Barberena, and Perry winning one in April for a fight with Alex “Cowboy” Oliveira. For both men, it was their fourth UFC post-fight bonus overall.
The two Performance of the Night awards went to light heavyweight Volkan Oezdemir and flyweight Veronica Macedo.
Oezdemir scored a thudding second-round KO against Ilir Latifi, while Macedo picked up her first UFC win in four tries by submitting Polyana Viana in just 69 seconds.
