Brad Katona is getting his chance to rebound from his first pro loss when he takes on Hunter Azure in Vancouver.
The bantamweight matchup was announced for the UFC’s upcoming Sept. 14 card through the Canadian Press on Thursday, as well as a middleweight matchup between Michel Pereira and Sergey Khandozhko. The Pereira-Khandozhko bout was first reported by MMA DNA.
Competing in his native Canada for a third straight time, Katona (8-1) will look to get back on the winning track after dropping a unanimous decision to Merab Dvalishvili at UFC Ottawa. Prior to that, Katona, 27, won his first two fights and was the champion of The Ultimate Fighter 27 featherweight tournament.
Azure makes his UFC debut after winning a contract on Dana White’s Contender Series in July. He defeated Chris Ocon by unanimous decision to remain undefeated at 7-0. The 27-year-old was a standout in the Legacy Fighting Alliance promotion.
Making his second UFC appearance is Pereira (23-9, 2 NC), a 25-year-old Brazilian who wowed fans with a showy win over Danny Roberts this past May.
Khandozko (27-5-1) also impressed in his UFC debut, defeating Rostem Akman by unanimous decision at UFC Stockholm. The 27-year-old Russian is on a three-fight winning streak.
UFC Vancouver will take place at Rogers Arena and features a headlining lightweight bout between Donald Cerrone and Justin Gaethje. The main card airs live on the ESPN+ streaming service.
