It didn’t take long for John Lineker to find a new home.
Days after being released for the UFC after a 12-4 run in the eight-sided cage, “Hands of Stone” inked a multi-fight deal with ONE Championship, he told MMA Fighting on Monday.
ONE Championship has yet to book Lineker’s promotional debut. Lineker will compete as a bantamweight, which means 145 pounds under ONE Championship's rules.
A former Jungle Fight 135-pound champion, Lineker fought under the UFC banner 16 times since 2012, scoring wins over the likes of Ian McCall, Rob Font, Francisco Rivera, Michael McDonald, John Dodson, Marlon Vera and Brian Kelleher.
Lineker (31-9) was schedule to rematch Rob Font at UFC Greenville on June 22, but withdrew on the 11th hour after allegedly suffering a facial cut while losing weight. The promotion decided to release him days later.
