UFC 239 live blog: Amanda Nunes vs. Holly Holm

This is the UFC 239 live blog for Amanda Nunes vs. Holly Holm, a bantamweight championship bout at Saturday’s UFC event at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Nunes, the UFC’s reigning champion at 135 and 145 pounds, faces Holm, a former UFC bantamweight champion, in the co-main event.

Round 1: Holm comes out and takes the center. Not much happening early as both women are keeping a long distance. Nunes lands a low kick but Holm counters with a jab that off-balances Nunes. Now Nunes is the one coming forward and Holm has landed a few side-line low kicks. Head kick from Nunes is blocked. Nunes is feinting a lot but not throwing much. Holm blitzes in and Nunes lands some good knees in the clinch. Nunes hits a trip takedown but Holm uses a whizzer to get back to her feet immediately. Holm keeps going with the side kick. Nunes steps in with a big left hook that lands. Good body kick and right hook from Nunes. Nunes lands a massive head kick that puts Holm in a world of trouble! A few follow up shots finish the job and the ref jumps in to stop it.
