The Braga family will never forget the night of July 26, 2019, when father and son were both victorious inside the Future MMA cage in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

The first to compete at the Clube Indiano was Gabriel Braga (4-0), a 21-year-old featherweight prospect who made quick work of Jean Inacio Soares (5-3) in the first round. With his father, Diego Braga in his corner, Gabriel stopped Soares with a precise ground and pound in just 85 seconds.

Later that night, his 40-year-old father took on 32-year-old veteran Jamil Silveira in a lightweight contest, winning via unanimous decision (29-28 x3). Both Braga (23-8-1) and Silveira (44-19-1) announced their retirements after the three-round fight.

Future MMA 7 was headlined by Herbert Souza (14-1) vs. Taigro Costa (15-4) for the inaugural bantamweight belt. All “Indio” needed was 3:10 to drop Costa with a left hand and tap him with a guillotine choke to claim the title and extra $500 for the “Fighter of the Night” bonus.
