There’s no denying Greg Hardy’s finishing ability.

Hardy improved to 5-1 as a pro with all five of his wins coming by first-round knockout after dispatching Juan Adams in just 45 seconds on the main card of UFC on ESPN 4 in San Antonio, Texas, on Saturday.

This marks the second straight loss for Adams after starting his career 5-0.

The two heavyweights wasted no time engaging, though neither was able to land anything significant in the opening seconds. Adams decided to shoot in for a single leg that was well defended by Hardy, and as Adams held on, Hardy started rifling hard punches to the side of Adams’s head.

Though it was unclear how hurt Adams was, he was offering no intelligent defense and referee Dan Miragliotta made the decision to wave off the bout.

Afterwards, Hardy gave a fiery post-fight speech, referring to some of the trash talk that Adams had directed his way in the lead-up to their fight.

“Everybody wants to get me on the ground, everybody wants to take shots,” Hardy said. “I want everybody to know for one, calling my name comes with consequences; for two, taking me down comes with consequences; for three, I love y’all. I love being here. Thank you Dana, UFC, my coaches, everybody, ATT nation baby, woo!”

Hardy, a former NFL Pro Bowl defensive end, is now 2-1 in the UFC. Of his five knockout victories, four have come in under a minute.
