A new featherweight queen will be crowned when Pam Sorenson takes on Kaitlin Young in Kansas City on Aug. 9, the promotion announced Tuesday. The title bout will serve as the main event attraction for Invicta FC 36.

The championship clash was vacated after Felicia Spencer signed with the UFC earlier this year.

Sorenson (7-3), who lost to Spencer for the vacant gold in November, will have another chance to claim the 145-pound throne as she attempts to score her first win under the promotion’s banner since July 2017. “Bam” holds notable wins over Nicco Montano and Jessica-Rose Clark as a professional.

Young (10-9-1) has faced some of the best fighters in MMA history since 2007, sharing the cage with the likes of Gina Carano, Julie Kedzie, Leslie Smith, Liz Carmouche and Lauren Muprhy, and retired from fighting to work as matchmaker for Invicta FC in 2014.

“The Striking Viking” returned to action four years later, close to turning 33, and defeated Japanese star Reina Miura via decision under the Rizin banner last August before coming back to Invicta FC to finish Sarah Patterson and Faith McMah.

In the co-main event, former strawweight title contender Janaisa Morandin faces promotional newcomer and Bellator veteran Emily Ducote. The event will also feature Lindsey VanZandt, who recently submitted Rizin star Rena Kubota at Bellator 222 in New York, against Jessica Andrade’s teammate Jessica Delboni.
