Germaine de Randamie is adamant that she would accept a fight with Amanda Nunes if it was offered to her on the back of her controversial finish of Aspen Ladd in the main event of UFC Sacramento on Saturday night.

Speaking two days out from the fight, the former featherweight champion answered a question posed to her in a recent video post by Chael Sonnen, which pondered whether she would sign on the dotted line if a championship bout with Nunes was afforded to her.

“When I landed in Holland, a couple of people sent me a video that Chael Sonnen did…he wanted to know if I’d accept a fight with Amanda—of course I would accept a fight with Amanda,” de Randamie told MMA Fighting’s Eurobash podcast. “Everyone knows, for me it would be an honor to be in the cage with such great champion. It would be honor to try to redeem [my loss to her].”

Nunes is responsible for the only loss of de Randamie’s UFC tenure — a first-round stoppage via grounded elbows back in 2013. As far as the Dutch fighter is concerned, a rematch would be a very different encounter.

“I remember [she took me down]. That’s the fun thing; I’m not that fighter anymore and Amanda is not that fighter anymore too. I believe this is going to be a way different fight. I’m not that easy to takedown anymore, in that fight I was easy to take down, but now I’m not that easy to takedown. I know Amanda is a great champion and I know this would be a great matchup,” said de Randamie.

De Randamie praised what Nunes has achieved since their first meeting but underlined her belief that every fighter is beatable.

“I got the utmost respect for her. I said it the other day, there is no doubt about it, she is a true champion and she is one of the best ever. But everyone is beatable, I keep saying that.”
