Bellator fighter Dillon Danis was involved in a brawl inside a New York City nightclub this past Saturday night after it appears he was punched by another patron, which led to a melee breaking out.
Video obtained by the Daily Mail in the U.K. shows an unknown assailant jumping towards Danis and punching him before the brawl exploded at The Box, a theater and nightclub featuring burlesque on the lower east side in New York City.
Danis is seen standing by a table when the person in the video lunges towards him, throwing a punch before an entire crowd of people start moving in the attempts to keep them separated.
Danis came back after the man who punched him but people were already in between them before an even larger brawl broke out in the night club.
By all accounts, police did not get involved and no one was arrested after the brawl broke out inside the club.
“We are aware of the incident and are monitoring the situation,” Bellator officials said in a statement sent to MMA Fighting after the video of the fight involving Danis first surfaced.
Danis burst on the scene in 2016 after he became close friends and a training partner of UFC superstar Conor McGregor after they began working together in preparation for his rematch against Nate Diaz.
The veteran grappler eventually turned his attention towards his own career in mixed martial arts before signing with Bellator MMA where he’s racked up 2-0 record with a pair of submission wins.
